Aluminium is one of the lightest metals and offers a wide variety of applications. The two most common forms are cast aluminium and forged aluminium. Cast aluminium is widely used in the automotive industry, where it is processed into engine block components, lightweight rims, etc. About 90% of the aluminium used in the car manufacturing industry has been recycled. Forged aluminium is used in horticulture, yacht building and infrastructure. Aluminium products are weatherproof, corrosion-resistant and often require little maintenance. So it isn’t surprising that this lightweight metal is widely used to build products including bridge components, lampposts and window frames. Of all aluminium produced, 75% is still in circulation, partly because 95% to 98% of aluminium is recyclable.
